Under ADGM's commercial legislation, it is a serious contravention to misrepresent that an entity is incorporated, registered, or licensed in or from ADGM when this is not the case.

The ADGM Registration Authority (RA) has clarified that 'Grummies ADGM Holding Company' is not incorporated, registered, or licensed with the RA and does not appear on ADGM's Public Register of Companies. The RA has received reports of circulating documents falsely claiming ADGM Commercial Licence status for the entity. The authority is concerned that such inaccurate claims may mislead members of the public into engaging with or investing in non-ADGM entities. Under ADGM commercial legislation, misrepresenting an entity's registration or licensing status is a serious contravention that may result in financial penalties and regulatory enforcement action. The RA advises the public to verify the status of any entity claiming ADGM association by searching ADGM's Public Register of Entities at www.registration.adgm.com, and to verify licence authenticity using ADGM's document verification tool. Exercise caution when contacted by persons or entities claiming ADGM association, particularly in relation to investment opportunities, payment requests, or requests for personal or financial information.

Source: ADGM · Read on Scooped

The General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) announced that VDX, developed by Skyports Infrastructure, has received regulatory certification for electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft operations. Located adjacent to Dubai International Airport, VDX will serve as the flagship hub of Dubai's planned air taxi network, with three additional vertiports currently under development in partnership with Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA). The certification follows a comprehensive regulatory assessment covering infrastructure, operational procedures, safety management systems, emergency preparedness and compliance with aviation regulations. The four-storey VDX vertiport spans approximately 3,100 square metres and includes two dedicated take-off and landing pads, rapid charging facilities for electric aircraft and passenger processing infrastructure. Once commercial operations begin, the facility is expected to handle up to 170,000 passengers annually.

Source: Khaleej Times · Read on Scooped

The court rejected a former husband's appeal who argued that his ex-wife's earnings meant she was not entitled to an award. The court emphasized that post-divorce financial claims must be assessed holistically, considering factors like marriage duration, financial standing, obligations, and income disparity. The ruling upholds a lower court judgment under Abu Dhabi's civil family law.

Source: Mondaq · Read on Scooped

The Committee operates under Federal Law No. 11 of 2021, which covers patents, utility models, industrial designs, integrated circuits, and undisclosed information across all UAE jurisdictions including free zones. Filing a grievance before the Committee is a mandatory gatekeeping stage; no court action will be accepted unless a grievance has first been filed administratively.

What to do: Patent applicants and industrial property rights holders must file grievances against Ministry decisions within 60 working days using the prescribed form with supporting documents. Failure to meet this deadline may result in loss of the right to challenge decisions through the administrative route.

Source: Mondaq · Read on Scooped

A pioneering product from Expo City Dubai, the Expo Green Licence is a key enabler of the Green Innovation District – a joint, landmark initiative with the Ministry of Economy and Tourism designed to connect businesses under a shared goal of driving sustainable innovation to maximise environmental and economic impact. The six ventures – whose activities span waste management to climate tech – are the first of a robust pipeline of applicants from the UAE and abroad to be awarded the licence, reinforcing the nation as a destination of choice for bold, innovative enterprises committed to sustainable development. The Expo Green Licence is the first of its kind in the UAE and addresses a critical gap in the licensing market by offering sustainability-led businesses of all sizes, stages and sectors exclusive benefits that support setup, growth and innovation. It sets a clear and robust qualification benchmark, ensuring only businesses with demonstrated environmental, social and governance credentials – through certifications or documented track records – form part of the District.

Source: WAM Economy · Read on Scooped

EWEC has announced that registration for its 20th Clean Energy Certificates (CECs) auction is open. Registration will close on 31st July 2026.

EWEC has announced that registration for its 20th Clean Energy Certificates (CECs) auction is open. Registration will close on 31st July 2026.

Emirates Water and Electricity Company (EWEC) has announced that registration for its 20th Clean Energy Certificates (CECs) auction is open. Registration will close on 31st July 2026. Since the introduction of the Regulatory Policy for CECs by the Abu Dhabi Department of Energy (DoE) in 2021, the CEC programme has become an established component of the Emirate’s energy transition framework. CECs are attracting robust interest across healthcare, industrial, retail, energy, real estate, events, and commercial sectors. EWEC plays a central role in enabling and operating the CEC market as the Single Registrant and Scheme Operator. As EWEC executes its strategic roadmap to expand renewable energy capacity, with solar generation forecast to reach 17.5 GW by 2030 and exceed 30 GW by 2035, this rapidly expanding pipeline directly enables a broader spectrum of entities to acquire certificates and formally verify their renewable energy consumption. To ensure maximum accessibility, EWEC maintains highly competitive reserve prices for each energy source. Each certificate represents the environmental attributes of 1 MWh of renewable or clean energy and conforms to the International Renewable Energy Certificate Standard (I-REC Standard). The auction uses a competitive 'Pay as Bid' clearing mechanism, with results expected by 5th August 2026.

What to do: Organisations interested in purchasing Clean Energy Certificates must register for the 20th auction by 31st July 2026 via www.ewec.ae/cleanenergycertificates or by emailing CleanEnergyCertificates@ewec.ae.
His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Presidential Court, in his capacity as Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department (ADJD), has issued Resolution No. 40 of 2026 establishing a specialised court to adjudicate human trafficking crimes in Abu Dhabi.

The resolution comes as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen a specialised judicial system and provide the highest standards of justice in a timely manner, marking a significant step in enhancing legal protection mechanisms and safeguarding human dignity and rights. In line with the principle of comprehensive judicial specialisation, the new court establishes an integrated procedural framework within its organisational structure. This begins with a specialised Public Prosecution responsible for investigating and prosecuting human trafficking crimes, and extends to Courts of First Instance and Courts of Appeal with jurisdiction over such crimes. The integrated framework is designed to enhance the efficiency of judicial procedures and accelerate the adjudication of cases. To strengthen the comprehensive protection framework and unify efforts, the resolution provides that the court shall have jurisdiction over all human trafficking cases arising within the emirate of Abu Dhabi. It also requires all courts currently hearing human trafficking cases to refer them to the newly established court, unless the pleadings have been closed, ensuring that all such cases are handled within a specialised judicial framework. The ADJD undersecretary will issue the necessary decisions to implement the provisions of this resolution and ensure that the court exercises its jurisdiction efficiently.

Source: WAM · Read on Scooped

Entities that are members of MNE groups meeting the Pillar Two revenue threshold (i.e., consolidated group revenue exceeding EUR 750 million in at least two of the four preceding fiscal years) are required to register and obtain a Pillar Two Top-up Tax Registration Number. Separate registration is required for Joint Ventures, Joint Venture groups and for reverse hybrid entities. Earlier, UAE had passed Cabinet Decision No (142) of 2024 implementing minimum tax of 15% for large multinational enterprise (MNE) groups as per the Pillar Two Rules published by OECD. Pillar Two obligations are applicable for all large MNE groups from the financial year starting on or after 1st January 2025. Based on the registration framework currently released, Taxpayers may either: Register individually; or Designate a UAE constituent entity as the Domestic Designated Filing Entity (DDFE) to undertake Pillar Two compliance obligations on behalf of all UAE constituent entities within the group. All such CEs who have nominated DDFE in their registration application shall provide authorisation for appointment of DDFE. The designated DDFE must submit an authorization letter confirming its appointment, which must be acknowledged by the relevant UAE constituent entities covered under the arrangement. The registration process requires submission of various details and supporting documents, including information relating to the MNE Group, Ultimate Parent Entity (UPE), Group structure, DDFE (where applicable) from relevant UAE group entities.

Federal Decree-Law No. 13 of 2024 on the Protection Against Domestic Violence. This law replaced the earlier 2019 law and introduced a wider and more practical protection system.

The main legislation is Federal Decree-Law No. 13 of 2024 on the Protection Against Domestic Violence. This law replaced the earlier 2019 law and introduced a wider and more practical protection system. It does not limit domestic violence to physical assault only. It also covers psychological harm, sexual harm, economic harm, threats, neglect and exploitation within a family relationship. The protection under the law applies within the family relationship. This includes spouses, children, relatives by blood or marriage, persons connected through custody, guardianship or legal responsibility, and other family relationships recognized under the law. The law also goes further and places a duty on any person who becomes aware of domestic violence to report it promptly. One of the most important legal remedies under the 2024 law is the restraining order. A restraining order may be issued by the Public Prosecution or by the competent court. The Public Prosecution may issue a restraining order on its own initiative, based on a request from the victim, the Ministry, the competent authority or the social support centre. The request for a restraining order is exempt from court fees.

Source: Mondaq · Read on Scooped

The Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority (SRTA), in coordination with Sharjah Police, has implemented a comprehensive traffic management plan with alternative routes and exits for motorway users and residents. Drivers are advised to avoid travelling between 7am–9am (morning peak) and 4pm–7pm (evening peak).

All entities in the country are urged to comply with national cybersecurity regulations and policies, strengthen preventive security measures, regularly update their systems, and promptly report any suspicious cyber indicators or activities through the official reporting channels.

Sharjah Police on Sunday arrested seven Asians and foiled a cybercrime plot involving an electronic fraud network accused of impersonating officials. According to authority, the suspects lured victims into downloading malicious applications that allowed remote access to their phones. They also exploited labour data to open bank accounts, which were then used to launder proceeds from cybercrimes. The arrest comes as the UAE intensifies efforts against cybercrime threats. The UAE Cybersecurity Council recently announced it had successfully thwarted sophisticated cyberattacks targeting financial sector entities. The council said the attempted attacks included phishing campaigns, exploitation of security vulnerabilities, malware deployment, and attempts to target critical digital infrastructure. All entities in the country are urged to comply with national cybersecurity regulations and policies, strengthen preventive security measures, regularly update their systems, and promptly report any suspicious cyber indicators or activities through the official reporting channels.

Source: Khaleej Times · Read on Scooped

UAE landlords can now check the credit scores of prospective tenants before signing rental agreements, as Etihad Credit Bureau's (ECB) new Tenant Screening service has officially gone live.

Dubai: UAE landlords can now check the credit scores of prospective tenants before signing rental agreements, as Etihad Credit Bureau's (ECB) new Tenant Screening service has officially gone live. The service, available through the ECB app, allows landlords to request a prospective tenant's credit score before deciding whether to proceed with a lease. Information is shared only after the tenant gives explicit consent through a verified UAE PASS account, making the process entirely digital. A landlord begins by selecting the Tenant Screening feature in the app and entering the prospective tenant's Emirates ID details. After completing payment, a secure consent request is sent directly to the tenant through UAE PASS. As soon as the tenant approves, the Credit Score appears directly in the landlord's app. Prospective tenants receive a secure notification through UAE PASS and can either approve or reject the request. If consent is granted, the landlord receives the applicant's credit score. If the tenant rejects the request or does not respond before it expires, no information is shared and the payment is refunded automatically. The service introduces a more standardised way for landlords to assess prospective tenants, complementing existing tenant verification practices such as salary certificates, employment letters and bank statements.

Source: Gulf News · Read on Scooped

The Abu Dhabi Court of Cassation has ordered a company to pay an employee Dh875,761 in unpaid wages and other benefits after finding that her employment had not been formally terminated despite the company stopping salary payments.

The Abu Dhabi Court of Cassation has ordered a company to pay an employee Dh875,761 in unpaid wages and other benefits after finding that her employment had not been formally terminated despite the company stopping salary payments.

The ruling by the highest judicial authority in Abu Dhabi came after a lengthy court battle. The case first went to the Court of First Instance, then the Appeal court, and finally to the Cassation.

The employee filed a labour case in 2025 claiming that her employer stopped paying her a monthly salary of $26,666 (about Dh97,866) from April 2025 without formally ending her employment. She demanded unpaid salaries, leave pay, notice compensation, end-of-service gratuity, contractual bonuses, stock-related benefits, and compensation for alleged wrongful termination during probation.

A lower court initially awarded her Dh18,350 compensation for the notice period and a return air ticket while rejecting the rest of her claims. The employee appealed the ruling, eventually taking the dispute to a higher court. There, the court quashed the earlier judgment and ordered a court-appointed expert to review the case.

The employee argued that the company had never issued a formal termination notice and that the employment relationship remained legally valid. She testified that she continued working after the company stopped paying her salary and was unable to move to another employer due to her employment status and the lack of termination papers.

The court-appointed expert found no document, letter or email showing that the company had informed the employee that her services had been terminated.

The expert also found that the employee's repeated attempts to contact the company by phone, email, and through a newspaper notice were unsuccessful. Based on the documents available, the expert concluded that the employee continued working until she filed her lawsuit on November 25, 2025.

Source: Khaleej Times · Read on Scooped

The central issue is not where consumption took place, but whether traces are found within UAE jurisdiction. Experts cited Article 12 of Federal Decree-Law No. 30 of 2021, which prohibits use of narcotics except for approved medical treatment. Drug metabolites can remain detectable long after consumption, and foreign prescriptions do not automatically exempt travellers from UAE regulations.

What to do: Travellers must ensure no traces of prohibited substances remain in their system before entering the UAE, even if consumption occurred abroad or in a country where the substance is legal. Foreign prescriptions for controlled medications require specific approval and import clearance.

Source: Khaleej Times · Read on Scooped

The move is part of ongoing works to expand the station, which serves as one of the busiest stops on the Red Line and a key gateway for visitors heading to Burj Khalifa and Dubai Mall. RTA said the affected stretch, located along Sheikh Zayed Road near the station, will be restricted to construction vehicles only for the duration of the works. Commuters relying on public transport can expect some changes to how they access the station during this period. To minimise disruption, RTA has put an integrated traffic management plan in place. This includes a new bus layby set up alongside the existing one, allowing services to continue running smoothly while construction is underway. Clear signage has also been installed around the site directing drivers and commuters, including markers for Jabal Ali and Bur Dubai directions along Sheikh Zayed Road. The authority is urging motorists and commuters to keep an eye on directional signs posted around the station, stick to the designated speed limits in the area, and plan their journeys with some extra time built in.

Source: Gulf News · Read on Scooped

The Knowledge and Human Development Authority announced the launch of Skills for Life under the directives of Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai.

Dubai has launched its first integrated life skills framework for learners, a new education initiative aimed at preparing children and young people for a rapidly changing world by strengthening their practical, personal and social capabilities. The Knowledge and Human Development Authority announced the launch of Skills for Life under the directives of Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai. The framework will come into effect from the 2026-27 academic year and will support learners across Dubai from pre-kindergarten through graduation and beyond. It is aligned with the goals of the Dubai Education Strategy 2033 and the UAE's National Charter for Education. The initiative, launched during the Year of the Family, is designed to help learners build the knowledge, habits and capabilities needed to navigate school, work and daily life with confidence. KHDA said Skills for Life responds to the pace of global change, particularly as technology continues to reshape how people live, learn and work. The framework aims to help students develop confidence, adaptability, resilience and a sense of purpose. The framework will be embedded across learning environments and curricula, while complementing Dubai's quality assurance standards and its academic and career guidance policy. Skills for Life sets out clear learning outcomes and expectations for education providers, while incorporating wellbeing indicators and quality assurance tools. The framework will take into account the needs of different age groups and learning stages to ensure effective implementation across the education system. The new framework covers life skills including healthy lifestyles, personal hygiene, physical activity, balanced habits, nutrition, organisation, goal-setting, time management, decision-making, financial awareness, communication, empathy, teamwork, psychological resilience, digital safety and critical thinking online.

Source: Gulf News · Read on Scooped
