Accident-Free Day campaign launches August 31 as academic year begins

The Ministry of Interior, represented by the Federal Traffic Council, is launching the "Accident-Free Day" initiative on August 31st, coinciding with the first day of the academic year. The campaign aims to promote traffic safety and reinforce compliance with traffic laws. Registration opens on August 17th via the Ministry of Interior's social media account @MOIUAE. Drivers who register, sign the initiative's pledge, and comply with all requirements can earn a reduction of four traffic points. The initiative focuses on educating drivers about fundamental safety behaviours including vehicle safety checks, adherence to speed limits around schools, avoiding mobile phone use while driving, maintaining safe distances, and giving priority to pedestrians. The campaign targets all road users with the goal of reducing traffic accident fatalities and fostering a culture of responsible driving.
