MoHRE upgrades work permit services, adds 13 permit types — employers and workers
The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) has launched an upgraded work permit system that eliminates all supporting document requirements, reduces data fields by 75–97%, and introduces 13 distinct permit categories to streamline hiring. The changes affect all UAE employers and workers across private and public sectors.

MoHRE's overhaul is part of the Zero Government Bureaucracy Programme and shifts all services to unified digital platforms, removing the need for in-person visits. The 13 permit types now include recruitment from outside the UAE, internal transfers, part-time work, temporary assignments, family-sponsored employment, juvenile work (ages 15–18), student training, GCC nationals, Golden Residency holders, freelance self-employment, private tutoring, trainee nationals, and mission-based work. Processing times have been significantly shortened. The Ministry is consulting the public until 30 July to refine procedures further before full implementation.
