Eligible UAE visit and tourism entry permits can be extended through the relevant immigration authority. Tourist entry permits can be extended once or multiple times, provided the total duration does not exceed 120 days. Visit visas for relatives or friends, and those for exploring job opportunities or establishing a business, can be extended once or multiple times up to 180 days total. Border-area entry permits, truck drivers, workers on tourist ships and pleasure boats cannot be extended. A visa extension must be applied for by the sponsor — the travel agency or tourism company that issued the visa, or the family member or individual who sponsored it. ICP extension fees include an application fee of Dh100 and extension fee of Dh500. Dubai-issued visas incur a Dh600 extension fee plus 5 per cent VAT, with additional charges possible. Overstay fines are Dh50 per day for exceeding permitted stay.
