Dubai's Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) has outlined the focus areas for its school inspection visits this academic year. Inspections will concentrate on early childhood education quality, education provision for Emirati students, inclusive education for students with complex needs, and Arabic language teaching effectiveness.
The new inspection methodology uses AI tools to determine the most appropriate visit type for each school. Private schools in their first or second year will undergo specialised visits assessing teaching quality and student experience. Schools in their third year will receive comprehensive quality assurance visits with detailed reports and overall ratings.
KHDA will conduct two types of visits: comprehensive visits by specialist teams assessing overall performance, and shorter follow-up visits addressing specific areas. For the first time, schools will receive no more than 24 hours' notice of visits to reflect everyday school reality. Schools are rated as Outstanding, Very Good, Good, Acceptable, Weak, or Very Weak. According to the most recent cycle, 81 per cent of students in Dubai's private schools receive Good or better quality education.
