Major summer road works begin at 28 Dubai locations in July

Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has launched rapid traffic improvement projects across 28 locations as part of efforts to improve traffic flow and road safety. The works will run between July and September 2026, timed to coincide with the summer holiday period to reduce disruption and accelerate completion.

Key projects include the expansion of Emirates Road, where two additional lanes will be added along a 5km stretch from Sharjah towards Al Amardi Street. This expansion is expected to reduce congestion and shorten journey times by around 25% during peak hours.

Other improvements include traffic upgrades at major intersections such as Trade Centre Street and Marasi Drive in Business Bay, traffic flow improvements on Latifa Bint Hamdan Street near Al Quoz Industrial Area, and enhancements on Ras Al Khor Road. Several residential areas will also benefit from additional lanes at key intersections.

As part of school year preparations, RTA is introducing measures to improve traffic safety around educational facilities, including new parking spaces at Zayed Educational Complex in Al Mizhar 2 and additional capacity at Horizon International School in Umm Al Sheif. Project locations were selected based on technical assessments, historical traffic patterns, survey findings and data from intelligent transport systems.
