Project-based learning expands to 129,000 pupils in 2026-2027

The Ministry of Education has announced an expansion of project-based learning to more than 129,000 pupils across 366 government and private schools for the 2026-2027 academic year. The approach will continue for Cycle 2 pupils across four core subjects: Arabic, English, mathematics and science. Students will identify problems, research possible answers, and then design, test and improve their solutions through group work, with individual assessment. Two lessons per week in each subject will be allocated to projects. Grade 7 pupils will complete their first integrated project combining all four core subjects, helping them make connections between different areas of knowledge. The model aims to develop critical thinking, creativity, communication, collaboration and problem-solving skills, while strengthening national identity and supporting core educational outcomes.
