UAE introduces new 2025–2026 public school inspection framework — all government schools

The framework organises inspection criteria into four pillars. The first pillar (human resources and professional compliance) requires schools to reinforce national identity through proper flag protocols, national anthem performance, and leadership portraits; promote Arabic language and Emirati values; enforce professional conduct codes; maintain accurate staff records; ensure teachers and leaders hold Ministry-issued licences; and guarantee student supervision at all times. The second pillar (educational and academic services) mandates compliance with the approved academic calendar and curriculum, availability of textbooks and learning materials, continuity of learning during exceptional circumstances, implementation of the national child protection policy, staff training on child protection, confidential record-keeping for welfare cases, accessible learning environments for students of determination, and adapted assessment arrangements. The third pillar (school infrastructure and facilities) covers suitability and safety of classrooms, laboratories, libraries, compliance with approved architectural plans, cleanliness, maintenance, signage, and accessibility for students with disabilities. The fourth pillar (occupational health, safety, and environmental standards) includes fire safety regulations (alarms, extinguishers, emergency exits, evacuation plans, regular drills, valid civil defence certifications), electrical system compliance, hazardous material storage, visitor management, first-aid readiness, school bus regulatory standards, licensed drivers and supervisors, laboratory chemical safety, school clinic requirements (licensed medical staff, proper records, adequate supplies), food safety in canteens, and strict supervision of sports facilities and swimming pools.
