Truck movement restrictions begin October 1 across Dubai roads

Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority and Dubai Police will enforce restrictions on truck movements across roads in the emirate from October 1, 2026, as part of peak-hour traffic controls. Emirates Road is exempt from the decision.

Some major roads face 24-hour truck restrictions, including Al Qudra Street, Meydan Street, all marine bridges and Airport Tunnel. Other roads such as Sheikh Zayed Road and Beirut Street are subject to 16-hour restrictions from 6am to 10pm. In urban areas including Airport Road, Oman Street and Damascus Street, trucks are prohibited during three daily peak periods: 6.30am to 8.30am, 1pm to 3pm, and 5.30pm to 8pm.

The RTA has completed 14 of 16 planned truck rest areas across six key locations. The authority has also expanded capacity at seven existing rest areas by adding 364 parking spaces, bringing total capacity to 1,007 spaces. Companies requiring truck movements during restricted periods can apply for a Right of Way Services permit through the RTA website.
